WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is a client led approach to personal and professional development, which provides a unique environment in which clients can explore and identify their own paths toward progression. Although there may be exploration of what has brought a client to a certain point in their personal or professional lives, the focus is to take the learnings from the past to inform and create effective routes toward a client’s goal. In this respect coaching is future and solution focused, rooted in the belief that clients hold the solutions to their own challenges.

WHAT DOES A COACH DO?

The role of the coach is to hold a safe, supportive and nurturing environment in which the client feels able to express themselves freely – to explore, reflect and seek resolution, free from judgement or expectation. In order to facilitate this process the coach offers a framework for conversation in which they may make observations, seek clarification, ask questions, explore alternative perceptions or engage in specific techniques and models of exploration, resolution and planning.

WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM COACHING?

Anyone who is looking to move forward effectively, whether in their personal or professional lives, can benefit from coaching. For instance, an individual may feel stuck and unsure where or how to move forward, or have a goal but not be sure how to move toward it - or wants to reach the destination quicker. In reality there are many scenarios in which coaching may be of benefit, covering all aspects of life, the possibilities are truly limitless. Being coached is not a passive experience and those who benefit greatly from coaching tend to be those who are committed and actively engaged in the process.
